How to clean the refrigerator

Following the stove, the refrigerator is the most important appliance in the kitchen. That’s where we keep most of our food. However, we are often very careless – from spills, spoiled foods, etc. This is why cleaning is so important. To help you create a complete guide, with helpful tips on how to clean the refrigerator.

Essential steps to clean the refrigerator:

1. Switch off the refrigerator (optional)

If you need to clean the refrigerator thoroughly it may be best to turn it off to save electricity. However, pay attention during the process not to damage the quality of food.

2. Remove food

Evaluate the damage. Throw away any spoiled foods. Those still in good condition keep them in a bowl with ice. (Do the same with the freezer).

3. Clean the removable areas

Remove shelves, drawers and the like to clean the refrigerator. Then scrub each container with a sponge, along with warm soapy water. Finally, let it dry.

Tip: Never wash a glass shelf with hot water immediately when cleaning the refrigerator. The sudden change in temperature will cause the glass to crack, or crack. Instead, use cold water, or allow the shelf to adjust to room temperature before washing it.
